Sasha Compton (1992) is a British Artist and Designer based in London, who explores the natural world around her using authentic production methods. Sasha transports viewers into a timeless world of Art by creating modern reinterpretations of traditional concepts, embracing the beauty of nature and imperfections in life. Using expressive and experimental techniques, she works with the colour theory to create dreamlike artworks with the aim of bringing happiness into people's lives. Sasha Compton was set up in 2020 and has since has gained international press features in the likes of Vogue Scandinavia, Tatler, Elle Decoration, World of Interiors and more. She has worked with brands such as amie, Edmiston Yachts, Frameless Gallery, Thyme Hotels, The Elephant Family, Martin Brudnizki and Noble MacMillan.

One of her first ever handmade ceramics whilst building up her 'Sculpted by Sasha' range of artwork. This irregular plate has been handbuilt, glazed and fired in Sasha's London studio. Signed on the reverse and decorated with oxides and 10% of 24 carat gold glaze, this is an original piece designed to be hung on a wall or placed on a plate stand.

To reflect her personal experience of the artist's day at Thyme, Sasha is continuing with her theme of celebrating nature and its positive, calming effects. This artwork includes a border of botanical leaf studies surrounding a bee in 10% of 24 carat gold. The use of gold reflects the warmth of the sun amongst the Thyme gardens and signifies the importance of nature, bees in particular. When painting Sasha could hear lots of lovely sounds in the gardens at Thyme and wanted to include these. On the reverse of the plate is the text 'Spend time wisely, love your life.' This artwork is an ode to nature and playful reminder to make the most of life.

FAQs

We love mixing new works with existing pieces in your collection and this can be a great and easy way to create a gallery wall. Buying contemporary work to sit alongside traditional pieces you may have inherited is a great way to modernise a space while giving the more traditional pieces a new lease of life. Our advice would be to have a common thread that runs between the pieces to tie them together - this could be similar tones or colours, or a theme that runs through all the works.
