Sasha Compton (1992) is a British Artist and Designer based in London, who explores the natural world around her using authentic production methods. Sasha transports viewers into a timeless world of Art by creating modern reinterpretations of traditional concepts, embracing the beauty of nature and imperfections in life. Using expressive and experimental techniques, she works with the colour theory to create dreamlike artworks with the aim of bringing happiness into people's lives. Sasha Compton was set up in 2020 and has since has gained international press features in the likes of Vogue Scandinavia, Tatler, Elle Decoration, World of Interiors and more. She has worked with brands such as amie, Edmiston Yachts, Frameless Gallery, Thyme Hotels, The Elephant Family, Martin Brudnizki and Noble MacMillan.

There are few of Sasha's watercolours available, normally she used this medium for preliminary work and the design phase, working quickly to capture a moment and document it on paper for later reference, so this artwork is rare. During her day at Thyme with ACC, Sasha chose to spend a little longer using watercolours to capture the beautiful surroundings and calming artist's day. She found a secluded spot amongst an abundance of purple flowers. Purple as a colour is linked to the emotions of feeling calm, light-hearted, and romantic.

Much of Sasha's work is about celebrating love and positivity so these flowers were the perfect subject matter for a botanical study. Purple combines the calming elements of blue and the powerful energy of red. The mix of attributes from both primary colours creates a sense of balance, fulfillment and peace. She hopes this artwork reflects the calming mood of the surroundings at Thyme.

FAQs

We love mixing new works with existing pieces in your collection and this can be a great and easy way to create a gallery wall. Buying contemporary work to sit alongside traditional pieces you may have inherited is a great way to modernise a space while giving the more traditional pieces a new lease of life. Our advice would be to have a common thread that runs between the pieces to tie them together - this could be similar tones or colours, or a theme that runs through all the works.
