Diana Forbes

Diana is a painter and a mixed media collage artist based in Oxfordshire. She finds influence for her works in the change of seasons, the surrounding nature and shows an appreciation of home. Themes used in her work often feature ceramics, fabrics and flowers. Whimsical, uplifting and vivid works with a fresh twist. She works primarily in acrylics, ink, oil pastels and charcoal to achieve her textured and expressive style. Diana’s work has a strong focus on collage which she uses to build a unique texture. Formally from a corporate environment, Diana is entirely self-taught.

How the practice of art has helped my mental wellbeing:

After leaving a fast pace work environment, where I supressed my creativity for many years, I knew that I had to make a change to feel happy again. Becoming a mother has opened my creative channel in many ways. Teaching my children how to create with your hands, to observe nature, to play with colour and to make mistakes has been an important journey. Watching my children and their free and playful approach to art has encouraged me to practice art again. Whether I create art with or without my children, I am instantly uplifted. Allowing myself the freedom of making mistakes and turning them into something beautiful has brought me immense happiness and peace.
